Countless possibilities
Data communication is paramount and therefore it has been applied on various levels. This could mean XML exchange with governments, EDI exchange with large distributors, integration with financial software, deliveries to clients… Therefore, IC-Trace cannot only be used in one specific department but also as a total solution. It is a complete programme with many applications: inventory management, by product or by storage life, truck fleet management and delivery rounds, price management, by product, by customer or customer group…. Invoicing and follow-up of payments, deposit management, structured truck loading, labelling, bar coding… the software package can be used for international purposes, it is available in multiple languages and can also be (almost) unlimitedly customized to need; for the individual user as well as for a group or department.
Tracking & Tracing with IC-Trace
The days that the words tracking & tracing were fashionable terms are long gone. It is imperative that food is traceable in order to be able to take immediate action in cases of deviation or contamination. By tracing we mean that a product’s origin is checked and registered, but also when it was produced, packaged and delivered, which raw materials or semi-finished products were used, what its ‘best-by’ date is, who the supplier is and who was in charge of transportation….
With recent food crises such as mad cow disease, swine fever and dioxin chickens we have learned our lesson well. That is why since January 1, 2005 it is mandatory in Belgium and in Europe for food processing companies to implement a sound tracing system. That could entail a minimal tracing system, but by and large it is advisable to choose right for a fully integrated total package, such as ‘IC-Trace’ by Food-IT solutions right from the beginning.
These systems are not only mandatory by government law; companies themselves are also becoming more and more demanding. Automated systems work fast, are reliable and offer many extra options.
