GO4Plant goes for vegetable meat substitutes

GO4Plant' emerged from the collaboration of SRIW, Consucra, Wagralim and Vlevia. The goal of this Tournai start-up is to create a complete agricultural chain for the processing of vegetable proteins and thus to provide an answer to the increasing demand for vegetarian food.

Alternative protein chain

Based on the observation that more and more people are looking for vegetable-based meat substitutes, GO4Plant has set up a complete production and distribution chain for processing vegetable proteins. The young company wants to produce and distribute alternatives to meat based on vegetable raw materials, especially peas containing protein (feed). Since the peas are supplied by local farmers, this initiative fits perfectly within the principle of the short chain.

100% vegetable-based local vegetable burgers

Since February, 100% vegetable veggie burgers under the brand name 'Youpea' are available on the shelves of Carrefour. Youpea is the concrete result of the Go4Plant project. The pea-based veggie burgers are not only an alternative to meat, they are also a more environmentally friendly alternative for vegetarian products that otherwise often come from faraway countries. Youpea burgers bring together local cultivation and processing in Belgium, allowing consumers to enjoy healthy, sustainable and local products of plant origin.
